Leavin on a Jet Plane…

22 02 2008

Well today I am packin my bags and tomorrow I am boarding the plane, setting out across the cold waters of the Atlantic. My destination is the land of fish n’ chips, tea time, and a giant clock! I can’t wait.

This will be my first trip over seas and all I can think is: it’s about time!!! I have wanted to travel internationally my entire life and I really can’t believe it has taken this long to make it happen. I will be going to London, England and Cardiff, Wales all in a matter of 4 days! It is gonna be crazy.

As soon as I get back I will be posting many blogs I am sure with plenty of pictures as well. Please pray that our journey will be safe and uneventful, that my luggage arrives safely, and that my sister Crystal and I stay healthy and enjoy our time together.

More coming soon…

When it Rains It Pours

19 02 2008

This past weekend brought thunderstorms. One and then another and then another. The rain would stop but then it would start back up raining harder than the time before. It seems like the rain storms where reflecting the situations in my life.

God is always amazing me with the oppurtunities that he throws my way. Moments to shine and moments to stand in shock and disbelief. I have had them both over the last few days and through them all I just kept feeling like someone was think and acting for me. Until you have been pushed to your limits of understanding, it is hard to understand how the Holy Spirit can intercede in our lives.

These moments seem confusing and overwhelming at times but once the storms have past we can look back and see how little control we truly have in this life. Things will happen, jaws will drop, tears will fall, and another day will bring another mystery. Which reminds me that it is not about me at all. It was not and will never be about me, no matter how much I try to tell myself that I am in the drivers seat.

I could tell you the heroic story of this weekend and the crazy situations that crossed my pathes but they would distract from the purpose of these words. One thing I know now is that life is not about the situations themselves but rather the lesson learned, the character built and the knowledge gained from weathering the storm.

Finally.

4 02 2008

Here it is. I have done it. With a complete lack of planning or purpose I am stepping into the role of Blogger. I see so many that are smart and clever and yet I am not sure where to begin this adventure. I guess I will start with my wild-eyed dreams for what may appear on this blog.

First off will be my adventures in photography. It is a love of mine but my love has been on the ropes for a little while now. However I have found a new appreciation for carrying my camera with me at all times and I hope to capture some moments of time along my journey. (Who cares about dusty lenses when they expose something golden.)

In addition I will attempt to create an account of the places I have been and the people I have met down the road. I dream about being an amazing story teller but I seem to get the amazement of the story stuck in my head, leaving the listeners scratching theirs. So to combat that I think a blog will help me edit my thoughts in a concise yet digestible form.

I am looking forward to the sights, tastes, smells, sounds and experiences of 2008. London in February with snow and fog, Texas all summer with mosquitoes and watermelon, Egypt in August with Pyramids and ancient architecture. I can’t wait. So join me if you have the time. I will post when I can but I make no promises regarding my consistency.

Here are a few shots to kick off this journey. These were  taken at St. Augustine Beach in Florida during one of my summer road trips! It was a beautiful morning at the beach. Enjoy!
